Read moreIt is more or less a carbon copy of the Bodeguita del Medio in Havana, the famous bar where Hemingway used to come to drink his mojitos. Except that the Santa Clara version has much more space. The mojitos are good and highly recommended, but Bodeguita del Medio is also, without a doubt, one of the best places to eat in town. Classic Cuban dishes, well made and at a good price, are indeed served in the room after the bar (take a little sweater, the air-conditioning is on full blast!)

It is indeed on the floor of a colonial house nicely restored so you don't notice it right away, you have to raise your head! It has the advantage of having a small terrace that goes around the balconies, which allows to have a nice view on the street. As for the dishes, it is a Cuban cuisine revisited which is in the honor. Do not miss to take a cocktail at the bar, they are well prepared.

Read moreA relatively young restaurant in the landscape of Trinidad, installed on the floor of a beautiful traditional house superbly restored. Behind its blue facade, we discover a cosy setting with a view on the roofs of the city. Here, you can enjoy creative tapas made with good farm products. Fast and attentive service. Very nice pictures of Trinidad on the walls because the owner is Julio Muñoz (owner of Casa Muñoz), a photo enthusiast. Good address which changes a little of all that one finds in the city.

It is particularly pleasant at the time of the aperitif because of the live music from 7 pm to 10:30 pm. For the dishes, it is the Cuban gastronomy which is with the honor with many specialities of grills to the wood fire (see the space barbecue at the bottom of the restaurant). The staff is well dressed and attentive. Good wine list. A sure value and definitely recommended!

Cafe Bahia is, with Jama (Habana Vieja), one of the few establishments in Havana to offer sushi, sashimi and ceviche. The quality is excellent, you can go there with your eyes closed! The restaurant is held by an adorable family, which does not spoil anything... Very nice terrace in the Miramar district, near the Vedado (two blocks from the river). A very recommendable address in short!
EL PALENQUE DE LOS CIMARRONES

During lunch, you will be treated to live Afro-Cuban music. During the day, you can visit the cave that once housed runaway slaves, called cimarrones, through a tunnel whose entrance is located near the restaurant.

The waiters are all elegantly dressed and the welcome is friendly. The cuisine, both Cuban and international, is of good quality. We recommend the cheese soup and the grilled meat. Special mention for the original decoration, which looks very authentic, and the photos of Camaguey dating from the beginning of the 20th century.
EL OLIVO
Read moreIt is the only restaurant in town that offers Mediterranean specialties based on pasta, pizza and olives with all kinds of sauces (hence the name). A good way to eat healthy and an alternative to Cuban dishes. It is also worth noting that the cheese (especially goat cheese) used in the various dishes is made on the restaurant's own eco-friendly farm, which you can also visit. You can also buy fresh goat cheese directly on the spot. An organic address and really different in the Cuban landscape.
