CHURCH OF SAN JUAN BAUTISTA
Read moreLocated in the centre of Arucas, this very imposing church is nicknamed the cathedral. It is an architectural curiosity, the work of the architect Manuel Vega, whose construction began in 1906 and was completed in the 1970s and which contrasts strikingly with the general architecture of the village. It is made of grey basalt, in neo-Gothic style. Inside, some works of art of great value, such as that of the Canary Islands sculptor Manuel Ramos.

GOFIO MILL
Read moreAlso known as Molino del Conde, this typical Canarian mill dates back to 1517 and operated for 400 years. It was used to make Gofio, a cereal flour of Guanche origin and still widely used in today's cuisine. Open to the public since 1998, it houses a museum comprising 3 rooms: the one where the gofio was grilled, the one where the grain is milled and a last one housing various working instruments (900 pieces in total). It is also here that the tourist office of Firgas is located.

Read moreThe church of Santiago (Santiago de Compostela) is the oldest on the island. It was built in 1498, two years after the end of the conquest, and partially restored afterwards. One of the bells (18th century) was donated by the Catholic Monarchs Isabella of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon. Its interior houses the altarpiece dedicated to Santa Barbara, attributed to Pedro Duque Cornejo, from the eighteenth century, a work described as a jewel of Canary Baroque, and the Mudéjar coffered ceiling of the presbytery dedicated to Santiago is also noteworthy.
