BAR DO CELSO
Read moreBar do Celso is an institution in Tiradentes. It serves as a bar, snack bar and restaurant. There are good sandwiches to nibble on, very good tutu mineiro and feijao tropeiro and excellent cachaças. For normal appetites, the dishes for one person can easily satisfy two. Of course, it's not necessarily very light, mineira cuisine being by essence caloric, but the smell of the old soapstone pans is not deceiving. Other establishments of the same style are to be discovered on this central square.
ATRÁS DA MATRIZ
Read more100 meters from the church "Matriz de Santo Antonio", this restaurant has been offering for 20 years an original cuisine that is somewhat free from the classicism of the mineiro. Everything is cooked in a wood-fired oven, hence the sweet smell in the air. With a superb view of the surrounding mountains, you can enjoy the grilled pizza or the Norwegian cod, the two specialities of the restaurant. Try the gorgonzola pizza with walnuts and parma ham. The place is quiet, relaxing, at the height of Tiradentes. A very good table!
VIRADAS DO LARGO
Read moreTiradentes is one of the Slow Cities and the restaurant Viradas do Largo is one of the Slow Food capitals. A gastronomic guide has long named it the best regional cuisine restaurant in the country. This is another excellent address for tasting mineira specialities, with a touch of originality from chef Beth Beltrão, as in the saffron chicken, the succulent suckling pig (to order), or her speciality: the famous Tutu mineiro. The angu fritters(pastéis) are simpler, but no less essential.
TRAGALUZ
Read moreThe Tragaluz is another starred restaurant in Tiradentes, in an enchanting and romantic setting. It has brought to the mineira cuisine its letters of nobility. The menu, presented as a text of cordel literature, offers dishes that will delight all palates. The basic elements of the regional cuisine are taken as a starting point and the chef revisits them with an international touch. Smoked surumbi with orange sauce, fillet with mushrooms, carrots and grilled bananas. It's certainly not cheap, but it's very interesting and sophisticated without being overdone.
ESTALAGEM DO SABOR
Read moreOne of the oldest restaurants in the city and one of the starred restaurants in Tiradentes. One can talk about fusion cuisine, but this venerable house continues to offer classic mineira cuisine. One comes here for traditional Minas dishes but also for more original creations, executed with mastery by the chef Vicente Teixeira, such as the "religious pig" or the "mané sem jaleco". Try the speciality, the pumpkin with dried meat. Some very pleasant tables outside. Good wine list. A very good address.
UAITHAI TIRADENTES
Read moreAs Minas Gerais regulars will have gathered, chef Ricardo Martins offers a fusion of the delicacy and spice of Thai cuisine with the richness of regional Minas Gerais cuisine. Uai is in fact an interjection referring to the Mineira culture and expressing surprise. Uaithai is indeed a pleasant surprise. The chef has succeeded in highlighting and marrying the most subtle flavors of the two cuisines, with the blending skills of the Bordeaux cellar masters. A crazy combination of aromas to discover.
CERVEJARIA JARDINS DE SANTO ANTÔNIO
Read moreA few dozen metres from the church of Santo Antônio, you can't miss the chef's Harley-Davidson. Motorcycle and whiskey fan, the chef André Grobério makes a very nice food. The pizzas are cooked on a wood fire, the mineiros dishes are also quite good. On the restaurant side, in the air-conditioned room, an interesting wine list. When the sun is shining, it is pleasant to sit on the terrace.

BISTRÔ MANO A MANO
Read moreChef Paulo Rosa has opened his own restaurant, after working at Michelin-starred restaurants in Sao Paulo and at Theatro da Villa and Tragaluz in Tiradentes. Good for her! While many of the restaurant's specialties have their origins in Italy, the chef's true passion is French cuisine, the very source of the name "Bistrô". The chef's approach is to make everything by hand, using only the finest ingredients, to create a fusion cuisine combining Europe and Brazil. Menus change frequently.
PAU DE ANGU
Read moreBichinhos is definitely a place that holds all kinds of treasures. In a small, simple house with bucolic charm on the road to Bichinhos, chef Leonidia honours simple regional cuisine with products from the garden that you come across as you enter the restaurant. We work here in short circuit or in locavore. The dishes are family-style and very tasty. The desserts are also excellent. The "straw hut" style is romantic. The cuisine of the place has been honoured for a long time. A good idea for a break on the Estrada Real.
MORADA BRUNCH
Read moreIf café da manha is a Brazilian tradition, the brunch craze hasn't escaped Minas Gerais either. Right in the heart of the small town of Tiradentes, Morada Brunch is a cosy, well-decorated and welcoming place. The many sweet and savoury dishes are prepared with the constant aim of offering maximum pleasure to guests. A daring rocambole (a traditional Tiradentes pastry) with goiaba jam and cheese is a must. Vegetarians will also find excellent mushroom lasagne.
DIVINO SABOR
Read moreThe best self-service restaurant in town, with a special emphasis on Minas Gerais specialities! The establishment is simple and welcoming, just like Minas Gerais. If the coquettish Tiradentes is dressed in beautiful clothes, its cuisine often remains simple and based on the search for quality food. The Divino Sabor restaurant respects these principles to the letter. The soapstone kettles provide appetizing mineiro dishes that have been delighting locals and tourists for many years. A restaurant by the kilo with a fairly good price-quality ratio.
BIROSKA SANTO REIS
Read moreThis bistro is so well hidden away in a small street in Tiradentes that it's a real discovery. The quality of service is impeccable, the beers are served "bem geladas" as is the Brazilian tradition, and the portions are generous in size. The presentation of the dishes shows the guests' desire for satisfaction... and the flavor of the dishes will do the rest. The small size of the premises guarantees a certain conviviality, and the relaxed atmosphere is in keeping with the "mineira attitude". Vegans are welcome... as is everyone else.
