LE MARAIS
Read moreLe Marais is an ode to the luxury culinary world. Launched in 2019 by food and caviar enthusiasts, the restaurant boasts an ultra-chic setting on the top floor of a building and offers high-flying cuisine. Excellence, technicality and creativity make the success of the place. All the dishes are concocted on the spot from selected fresh products. You will be invited into the kitchen (surrounded by bay windows) to discover the know-how of a perfectly trained team. The caviar is here in the honor and the choice of the wines admirable. We recommend it!
SAKAMANGA
Read moreAlways crowded, it is a meeting place between residents and tourists. Installed within the eponymous hotel, one sits in a rather noisy but always nice atmosphere. On the menu, you will find dishes from all over the world as well as local favourites such as zebu tournedos with green pepper, Mahajunga camarons, and surprising cheeses from the highlands... Straightforward flavors and a success that lasts thanks to the good quality-price ratio. You can also choose the lunch buffet served in the refreshing patio (except on Saturday).
LE PETIT VERDOT
Read moreThis well known restaurant in Tana is appreciated by connoisseurs who crowd around the bar, in the mezzanine or in the main room. Philippe and his team welcome with sympathy the amateurs of good food. An interesting wine cellar accompanies a well-made cuisine which smells good French soil: frogs' legs terrine with gratin, pork loin with chanterelles, pig's trotters with red beans, rabbit with cider and bacon, game (teal, wild boar stew, quails...). It is better to reserve the evening.
LA VARANGUE
Read moreOne of the best tables of Tana with efficient service and exemplary regularity. It is also one of the most charming and surprising places, with its succession of old cars and its multiple collections of exposed objects. A subdued atmosphere with a remarkable cachet. The menu, fresh and light at lunchtime, becomes more sophisticated and gastro in the evening: crayfish salad with mafana bream, grouper tartar with seasonal fruits, zebu medallions with morel cream, etc. Prices are a bit high for Mada but reasonable considering the quality.
LA TABLE D’HÔTES DE MARIETTE
Read moreMariette Andrianjaka is an institution in Madagascar. Commander of the Blue Cords of France in 1985, she is under distinctions: the walls of his house are covered with various titles or diplomas. And it is in her home that this adorable cook invites us, for a tasty meal, in a bed and breakfast atmosphere. She lives on the heights and receives only on order: it is also appropriate to call and book. Everyone knows it, it is she who often represents the Great Island question gastronomy. It would be a shame to leave Tana without tasting his "tatao" (seven royal dishes) for example. No card, but an imposing and high quality menu, which you will discover in the evening in the lounge. Unique… but it's not given.
LA TERRASSE DE TYDOUCE
Read moreLocated away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the Terrasse de Tydouce offers a welcome break in a green and peaceful setting. A refined menu between land and sea: shrimp fricassee, medallions of zebu steak a la plancha, pan-fried Creole blood sausage, pork filet with garlic or even brains with porcini mushrooms. You can taste here original dishes and a guaranteed quality. We also appreciate the quiet garden and the particularly well decorated interior. Moreover, the menu of the day offers an excellent quality-price ratio. We recommend it!
LA RIBAUDIÈRE
Read moreA table very appreciated by the residents in particular. Pleasant decoration with its fireplace in winter and its garden for the beautiful days. One comes especially for the cheese specialties (real raclette with half a wheel of Antsirabe!), but also for its well-prepared dishes: beef bourguignon, Alsatian flammekueche, veal blanquette, duck leg confit, zebu filet with flamed shallots. To share: chop on the bone 1,5 kg, ribs 1 kg... The menu changes according to the season and the market. A real bonus: the wines of the Auzias estate on the menu.

In a very successful design environment, François the chef and his team do a remarkable job of preparing the fish. It is very finely cut and the plates are very beautiful. The more classic dishes are also revisited and the wine list is well stocked. It is the chic and nice place for fish in Tana.
AKIBA LODGE RESTAURANT (ANCIEN KUDETA)

We accompany the whole of a Breton cider bolée! A nice, intimate and friendly address.
L'ORION
Read moreThe restaurant L'Orion offers a menu with multiple "Sino-Malagasy-Vietnamese" inspirations: zebu slices, chicken with coconut, shrimp curry, seafood gratin, duck breast with prunes. The strong point is also the superb fish, freshly arrived from Sainte-Marie. Depending on the arrival: red snapper, swordfish, parrotfish, red tuna, lobster... The whole is delightful, but ask for the price of the fish beforehand (they are not on the menu), because the bill can be high!
TABLE DES HAUTES TERRES
Read moreFrom the terrace of the restaurant of the Palissandre hotel & spa, we overlook the city: a superb setting, both by day and by night. For dessert, Manjary chocolate cube with pok-pok heart, citrus-ginger feuillantine... A good address.
TSIKY
Read moreThe Tsiky restaurant is a small address with a peaceful and reassuring atmosphere. You will settle down in a luminous room, which offers a striking view on the hill of Faravohitra. The service is pleasant here, and on the plate, the dishes are rather copious. Tsiky's cuisine is rather Malagasy inspired with a touch of European influence. The prices are far from being excessive and the quality is there. Dany knows how to maintain the level of his restaurant. We recommend this nice little restaurant!

You can sit in the shade of the terrace or by the fireplace on chilly evenings. The varied menu offers a large choice of grilled meats, dishes from here and elsewhere and good small dishes and Malagasy specialties based on fresh local products. The place is also a very pleasant place to have a drink after the visit of the Rova or the Palace of the Prime Minister, especially since the reception of Nathalie and her team is charming.
VILLA VANILLE
Read moreIn a beautifully restored traditional old Malagasy house, beautifully restored, the elegant surroundings (the atmosphere of the early twentieth century with an English touch), an address that has lost a little of its beauty in recent years but remains a safe value in the capital. A very rich map, offering both meat, fish, couscous, two or three meat as well as pizzas on fire. Tasting menus invite you to test 3 entries, 3 meals and 3 desserts at a more than reasonable price. The house specialty: vanilla dishes, identifiable to their small logo on the map. The chef can also prepare vegetarian, vegetarian, vegetarian or gluten free dishes. Malagasy acoustics (among others) are honored in the evening. Fair selling of sculptures, especially of artist Salomon and examples of marquetry, this is a good address to bring a nice work. Private lounge upstairs, reservation option with animation.
LE CARRE
Read moreLe Carré is a slightly chic restaurant, taken over by Alexandre and Nan, with a modern and green decoration (beautiful terrace, two fireplaces in season), which proposes a rather successful fusion cuisine. We particularly appreciate their sushi, but also the roasted duck with orange, the caramelized ribs, lamb tajine and... their champagne by the glass! The place is also nice to enjoy a cocktail with friends, on a quiet terrace. It is also the meeting place of embassy employees, insurance companies and some travelers passing through.

Semi-detached cellar, offering wine, cold meats, cheese and foie gras.
