CAPITOL THEATRE

This old art deco theater was built in 1892-1893 as the New Belmore Markets with, as a characteristic of the time, the inclusion of circus, theater and fairground shows. Due to the decline in attendance over time for these shows of all kinds, the building was transformed in 1913 into a racetrack. It became a permanent theater in 1927. Nowadays, its program includes great musical shows as well as famous artists: it is the little Australian Moulin Rouge!

Bangarra Dance Theatre is an Aboriginal (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) contemporary dance company founded in 1989. It is a permanent resident of the Opera House. In addition to the success of its annual tours, notably to Australia, the USA and the UK, it has been awarded the Helpmann Prize on several occasions. The Steyne is an iconic landmark in Manly and, more generally, in the upscale, residential Northern Beaches area of Sydney's north, as the name suggests. The brick building was constructed in the mid-19th century, but has since been rebuilt and renovated. The Steyne is actually quite a huge complex, comprising a hotel, several bars and restaurants. On Friday and Saturday nights, the atmosphere changes radically, with the inner courtyard taking on the appearance of an open-air nightclub where all Manly's party-goers gather.
