Restaurant

At the end of Galway's famous Quay Street is this cosy, warm little address offering a wide range of delicious dishes: mushroom and spinach soup, crab bruschetta, slow-cooked pork neck and mash potatoes, beef and Guinness stew with crusty bread... Everything is good, prepared with care from local products. Add to that vegan and gluten free options, honest prices and smiling service and it all adds up!

ROUGE

It's just a stone's throw from Galway's old town centre that those who love French-style bistro cuisine and a good atmosphere without the fuss will find their happiness. A few well thought out dishes, to be accompanied by one of the excellent (French!) bottles in store, plates of cold meats or cheeses (or both!), succulent desserts... Beyond these gustatory delights, what we love about Rouge is the elegant yet relaxed atmosphere, the subdued lights and the notes of the musician who sometimes sits behind the piano.

SHERIDANS CHEESEMONGERS

This Sheridans Cheesemongers is located right next to St. Nicholas Church. On the ground floor is the shop (which can vacuum pack before the plane home) and on the first floor is the eponymous wine bar. The large wooden tables along the windows allow you to watch the market show at the weekend while enjoying a pleasant plate of cold cuts or cheese, accompanied by a good glass of wine... A pleasure that is not very exotic, but so pleasant... Notice to epicureans!

C'EST LA VIE !

Fast food and home delivery

This is an authentic French bakery that has no equal in town. It must be said that with a French baker behind the stove, everything is easier! Made with organic flour, you can find here the classic baguettes, a whole range of breads, as well as a fine collection of our delicacies: croissants, pains au chocolat, éclairs, strawberry, apple or lemon meringue tarts, etc. And the twenty or so chairs welcome gourmets all day long, offering very good sandwiches, toast, croque-monsieur and home-made soups.

IL VICOLO

Italian restaurant and pizzeria €€

Situated on the water's edge in an old mill, Il Vicolo is a room full of character with exposed stonework and, above all, excellent food. It is probably the best Italian restaurant in Galway, with authentic dishes that are a pleasure to eat, delicious cicchetti and an excellent selection of wines made by the epicurean owner Gerry McMahon. And, like any good Italian, their coffees are also delicious. For lovers of steaming espressos and smooth cappuccinos!

MC DONAGH’S

For four generations, this has been the place to go in Galway for those who love fish, seafood and all the flavors of the sea. The establishment houses two different areas: a fish and chips side (to eat in or take away) and a restaurant side offering daily fish and a wide variety of seafood (oysters, mussels, salmon, crab, hake and much more!) all freshly caught, of course. In short, the food is good and the atmosphere is friendly.

TRATTORIA MAGNETTI

Italian restaurant and pizzeria €€

Owned by brothers Sean and Marco Magnetti, this trattoria, originally created by their parents on Cross Street in 1989, moved to Quay Street in 1994. It was then called Pasta Mista, evoking the fresh pasta prepared by the family, a tradition still alive today. In fact, you can still find recipes from their early days. Homemade pasta (gluten-free option), focaccia panini, fresh ravioli and pizzas made with dough that has risen for 72 hours are all on the menu at this charming family-run restaurant. The team is attentive and the prices fair.

CAFE ROSCOE'S

Takeaway food €€

Perfect for breakfast or brunch on the go, on site or to take away. The team is friendly, the service fast and the choice varied, fromIrish breakfast to US-made pancakes, sandwiches, wraps and fresh bagels, not forgetting the inevitable scones. The coffee is tasty, as are the fresh fruit smoothies. The value for money is one of the best in Galway, and the food is healthy. To get there, just follow the flags.... the café is just below!

DELA

World cuisine restaurant €€

It's the place to be for brunch! Locals and visitors queue early, as the establishment doesn't take reservations, except for dinners from Friday to Sunday. The address is comforting with its bohemian decor, soft playlist, pretty paintings and luminous tree. On the plate, a hearty traditional breakfast and tasty European dishes (vegetarian option) prepared with local produce from the owners' farm. The bread is homemade, as is the coffee, roasted on the farm.
