Quite simply, the world's most legendary sled dog race. It takes place between Anchorage and Nome, in the far west of Alaska, over 938 miles, or 1,510 km. The race starts on the first Saturday in March and lasts 8 to 15 days, depending on the year and the crew. It can even last three weeks. It's over 50 years old: the first one took place in 1973. It's a chance to see some beautiful dogs and greet some great mushers. The route is indicated on the website.
