Timetable

Most stores open from 10am until 10pm. During Ramadan, the hours change: opening later and closing at 2am at the earliest. If you go shopping in the morning, you will wonder how the malls and souks can survive. Be aware that the crowds arrive after 3pm on weekdays and after 5pm on weekends. Friday afternoons and all day Saturdays are the busiest days in both the souks and the malls.

Budget & Tips

You can pay almost anywhere with a credit card. Can we haggle? In the souks, of course you can and don't be afraid, it is the custom. In the shopping malls, don't hesitate to ask, because sometimes there is some leeway if it is not an international brand and if you have time. If you think Dubai is overpriced, there are many bargains to be found in the many souks of the old city.

Sales

Dubai is a shopper's paradise as everyone knows: it's a national sport. Two major periods attract tourists from all over the world for the city's legendary sales. The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) starts from December 26 until the end of January and the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) starts in early July until the end of August. There are even flash sales where you can get up to 90% off in some establishments for a few hours. These sales take place all over the city, but especially in the shopping malls. What's very local

Going to the Mall can be very confusing for Westerners. But here, it's a pleasure to go, especially when the warmer months arrive. Everything is done to make it a city within a city for families: attractions, children's parks, shows, quality restaurants! During the week, Emirati families go there in the afternoon with their friends and even stay for dinner. On weekends, entire families come to spend the day. It is a destination in itself. The souks are not only for tourists, but they are frequented in the evening by locals, not before.

Tourist traps

Buying alcohol in dedicated stores is possible but it is forbidden to drive with a drop of alcohol. Also avoid here the consumption of any drug strictly forbidden and punishable by prison...
