"THE BEEHIVE, QUOTES ARTISTS 1902-2009"
Founded in 1902 by the sculptor Alfred Boucher, the Ruche is a city of artists located in the th arrondissement of Paris. It houses one of the most important artistic centres of the th century. Originally created to help artists without resources, the venue welcomed great artists such as Modigliani, Artists, Brancusi, and especially Chagall, which was one of the most illustrious tenants. The Surnom's nickname was from the founder who compared creative artists with creativity to bees.
To date, the Ruche has workshops of all sizes, where many artists still reside. Some 240 works, paintings, sculptures, photos, videos and various installations are exhibited to illustrate more than a century of creation through the works of so-called "modern" and contemporary artists.
