Stay : The essentials of Denmark in one week
Starting in Copenhagen is a matter of course since most flights from France arrive at Kastrup airport. Spend three days discovering its must-see attractions, then take a break in Seeland, at the gates of Øresund, before taking the ferry to Fionie, its gardens and castles. The rest of the trip will be devoted to Jutland, a peninsula to discover from north to south.

Detail of the stay : The essentials of Denmark in one week - 6 days
Day 1: Copenhagen
Steps: Copenhague
For a first glimpse, stroll through the historic center along the Strøget, from Rådhuspladsen to Kongens Nytorv, with a few forays into the alleys of the Latin Quarter. A walk to get your bearings, punctuated by a break or two at one of Nyhavn's many cafés. Continue to the winter house of the royal family - Amalienborg - where you will greet the guards, the relief is assured at noon sharp! Take a look at the Marble Church and then head to the Little Mermaid and the Citadel for a bucolic stop. A must see! Finally, if you want to end your day with a shopping spree, chic awaits you in Bredgade where you'll find antique stores, contemporary furniture and art galleries while design and creativity are concentrated around Kongens Nytorv. Stroll along the pedestrian and shopping street Strøget where the famous Illum shopping center is located.
Day 2: Copenhagen
Steps: Copenhague
This is a good opportunity to try your hand at cycling beyond the harbour into the Christianshavn district (on the eponymous island) and into the "free city" of Christiania, where the spirit of the Sixties survives as best you can. Cross back over to Castle Island (Slotsholmen) and the Black Diamond. The visit to Christianborg takes a good half day to fully appreciate. If you have enough time before 5pm, make a foray into the National Museum, focusing on the Danish archaeology section on the ground floor (rune stones, Viking heritage). In the evening, a symphonic concert at the Det Kongelige Opera House may be considered.
CHRISTIANIA
Day 3: Copenhagen
It's time to tackle one of the great art museums: the Glyptothek Ny Carlsberg, which houses works by illustrious painters of Impressionism and the Danish Golden Age, as well as the antique collections of Palmyra. Another suggestion is the Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK or National Art Museum) dedicated to Fine Arts, where Modigliani, Picasso, Braque and Matisse rub shoulders with contemporary Danish masters such as painter Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg or sculptor Carl Bonnesen. To get some fresh air after your choice of museum in the morning, a cruise in the harbor, a visit to the Tivoli amusement park or the royal park of Rosenborg will close this cultural marathon day!
Day 4: North Seeland
Steps: Charlottenlund, Roskilde
From North to South, from East to West, it will be an opportunity to discover the Øresund, to breathe the sea air of the North Sea or to put a foot in the refreshing waters of the Baltic while watching from the corner of your eye the ferries coming from the neighboring Sweden! Here again, it's all a question of desire. First in Elsinore, where the memory of Hamlet hovers in the air if not that of Shakespeare. Then in more confidential but easily accessible places like Ringstedt, Karen Blixen's stronghold. Or why not Ordrupgaard, where you can admire the superb "organic" building designed by Zaha Hadid, whose sinuosity contrasts with the angularity of the Arken Museum in Ishøj? Roskilde, with its cathedral and royal pantheon, its museum of Viking ships; Hillerød and its royal Renaissance castle-Fredericksborg; or the fabulous Louisiana Museum of Modern Art (except on Mondays), which is one of the most beautiful in Europe (permanent and temporary exhibitions).
ORDRUPGAARD
Day 5: Fionie
Steps: Odense
You are now on your way to Fionie, an island well named the Garden of Denmark. Many castles and manors were built there, surrounded by remarkable gardens. Among the most notable, the castle of Egeskov, as romantic as one could wish, built in the middle of a lake, or the one of Valdemar and its exceptional view on the sea..
Breathe in the atmosphere of Kerteminde, a small village far from the tourist crowds, authentic to the core. Stop in Ladby to discover the only tomb ship in Denmark. Pass by the H. C. Andersen Museum in Odense and relive the enchanted world of the famous storyteller before strolling through the old and charming district of his birthplace, around the gothic cathedral of Saint-Knud, very lively in the evening, or dine at Storms Pakhus, the street-food market where you can enjoy world cuisine
Day 6: South Jutland
Århus is the best place to start if you want to explore this region. The old town, ARoS, nicknamed the White Diamond, the National Museum of Fine Arts, or the Infinity Bridge, a 360° bridge. Finally, stroll through the narrow streets of the Latin Quarter, which are full of cafés and trendy boutiques. The Wadden Sea is a UNESCO World Heritage site where you can taste giant oysters. In autumn and spring, experience the "black sun", a unique moment, an aerial ballet of thousands of birds that obscures the setting sun! You are in Viking country. Choose to stay in Ribe, the country's oldest city, 1,300 years old, and its Viking museum! But above all, don't forget to visit Jelling and the rune stones (Unesco World Heritage Site).
