How to get there - Kharkhorin
First contact with Mongolia
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar, where the day can be spent visiting the Gandan monastery and one or two of the capital's museums.
Crossing the steppe
Steps: Kharkhorin
Departure for Kharkhorin (7-hour drive). The road provides a first glimpse of the Mongolian steppes.
To Orkhon Falls
Steps: Karakorum
Visit to the Erdene Zuu monastery, the largest and best-preserved in the country. Evening arrival at the Orkhon Falls.

A day in the Orkhon Gorge
Steps: Tsetserleg
Stroll through the Orkhon Gorge and depart for Tsetserleg, capital of the Arkhangai aimag, where you can spend the night after visiting the town's museum and monastery.

Steps: Tsagaan Nuur
A long jeep stage takes you to Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur (White Lake), a volcanic lake renowned for its clear waters and surrounding scenery.

On the way north
Steps: Mörön
It will take two days by jeep to reach Mörön, the capital of the Aïmag of Khövsgöl. The road is long and difficult, but the landscapes are varied and it is possible, if you are in an individual car, to multiply at leisure the stops in nomadic families.
