Arrival in the capital

Arrival formalities in Windhoek, car rental, final reservations and purchase of equipment if necessary. A word of advice: as a family, don't take the risk of improvising on the spot. In high season, campsites and lodges are often fully booked 6 months in advance!
First steps in the Kalahari Desert
Allow 3h30 drive from Windhoek. Discover the Kalahari. 4x4 safari through the dunes, on the lookout for springbok, oryx or bat-eared jackals.
Kalahari Desert: meeting the Bushmen
The Kalahari is also the ancestral territory of the Bushmen (or Bushmen), a nomadic people of hunter-gatherers who occupied the whole of southern Africa for thousands of years, before being relegated to the Kalahari Desert. Only a minority have preserved their ancestral way of life. Possibility of visiting the San village-museum, the Living Museum of the Ju/'Hoansi-San in Grasshoek.
Namib: another desert, another scenery
Steps: Sesriem - Dunes De Sossusvlei
Direction Sesriem. It takes about 4 hours to drive (about 280 km from Mariental). A stunning landscape at sunrise and sunset. Depending on the age of the children and the family spirit, have an unforgettable experience of a night under the stars in the desert.
Namib Desert, time for discovery
Steps: Sesriem - Dunes De Sossusvlei
A challenge awaits you: for the most courageous, the ascent of the world's highest dunes (around 300 meters), Big Daddy or Big Mama. The reward is enormous: an exceptional view of the famous Sossusvlei site. An ocean of sand with the dry Dead Vlei lake and its frozen trees at its center.
Seaside resort: the Atlantic coast
Steps: Walvis Bay
Allow 5-6 hours' driving between Sesriem and Walvis Bay. If you don't want to drive through the Kalahari and Namib in one go, this stage can be organized between the first two.
Walvis Bay beach and excursions
Steps: Cape Cross
Beach and excursions. Watch flamingos in Walvis Bay or take a boat cruise to see dolphins, pelicans and cormorants. An excursion to Cape Cross, home to over 80,000 sea lions, is a must.
Stroll in Swakopmund
Steps: Swakopmund
Beach and visit Swakopmund, typical for its colonial architecture. Shopping at the craftsmen's.
En route to Etosha
Steps: Etosha National Park
Head for the animals of the savannah! From Walvis Bay to Etosha, allow 6 hours' driving. Mid-day stopover in Omaruru. Overnight in a camp on the outskirts of the park or directly inside the park in a Rest Camp to enjoy the exceptional setting from dawn.
Safari in Etosha National Park
Steps: Etosha National Park
Etosha Park in total freedom. At your own pace. Paved roads make it easy to get around the park. At the hottest times of the day, you can take a break in a Rest Camp with swimming pool. At least one night in the park offers an incredible spectacle at dusk and dawn. Rest Camps are set up near waterholes where the animals come to drink. Excitement and emotion guaranteed. Children's eyes will be filled with stars.
