Friday- Airport to Discovery Guest House, Windhoek
As soon as you lands, Discovery Transfer and Tours will pick you up from the Hosea Kutako International Airport. The airport is 45 km outside Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia. It has been a long journey, you will be dropped off at Discovery Guest House. A township tour will be arrange today. Dinner will be at your own expenses at the restaurant of your choice.
Saturday- Windhoek-Etosha NP
Pick up from your hotel or lodge between 7am-8am to allow us to depart at 8.30am. Headed to the north we will have our lovely lunch break in Otjiwarongo or Outjo. We will drive through the National park in search of wildlife: elephants, rhino, zebras, various game (oryx, kudu, wildebeest, impala, springbok, gemsbok) giraffes, hyenas and big cats of Africa: lion, leopard and cheetah inhabiting the enormous grasslands. We will be at our respective accommodation just before sunset. Dinner will sum-up the adventure and rest will be required so that we can be able to work up early and fresh for the next adventure.
Sunday-Etosha National Park
An early rise will be encouraged to have the feel of nature and the fresh breeze. Soon after breakfast we will then start our game drive to allow us to have a magnificent exploration, we will visit the waterholes. We will get to visit the Etosha pan (salt pan) before game driving across the park in expedition of coming across the Big 4 and other animal species. A light lunch will allow us to rest, gathering energy for our next adventure. After a short relaxation we will then visit our last waterhole that will be the last appreciation of Namibia’s beauty. Before sunset we will be back to our accommodation place so that we can have dinner as we share stories of our experiences of the day and also share and compare beautiful photos.
Monday- Etosha-Kamanjab, Damara Land
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will depart from Etosha National Park to Kamanjab which is a village of 6,012 people in the Kunene region in Namibia. It is in this town where you will find the Himba people, one of the last, original, nomadic tribes on Earth, who continue to keep traditional ancient way of life, as they did for hundreds of years. The Himba have clung to their traditions and the beautiful Himba women are noted for their intricate hairstyles and traditional jewelry. As Himba men and woman wear few clothes apart from a loin cloth or goat skinned mini-skirt, they rub their bodies with red ochre and fat to protect themselves from the sun that gives their appearance a rich red color. Himba jewelry is made from iron or shell, and due to their intricate designs have become very popular with tourists. After visiting the Himba people, we will have our lunch before we proceed to Khorixas for the night.
Tuesday- Damara Land, Skeleton Coast, Swakopmund
Twyfelfontein is a rocky site situated in the Kunene Region of north western Namibia. The site contains around 2,000 rock carvings and in 2007, UNESCO approved it as a World Heritage Site. The site is one of the largest and most important concentrations of rock art in Africa, and was proclaimed a National Monument in 1952. Experience cultural and ethnic meeting with the Damara tribe at the Living Museum surrounded by fascinating nature, rock formations and magnificent landscape of Damaraland. After our morning activities, we will have a picnic lunch and continue through Skeleton Coast, visit the Sea Colony at Cape Cross, visit the ship wreck and proceed to Swakopmund for the night.
Wednesday- Swakopmund, Walvis Bay & Sossusvlei
Namibia is a country of contrasts. Today we will move from the sea to the desert. On our way we will cross the Tropic of Capricorn and traverse the Gaub and the Kuiseb passes, driving down to the dry river bed at the bottom of the Kuiseb Canyon before climbing up the other side and watching the spectacular desert landscape unfold before us. Having arrived at the desert, we will make a stop at Solitaire for our lunch. We will arrive at the lodge or campsite around 3-4 pm. This time is extremely hot, we recommend that you spend the day cooling off by the pool. Early rest is required as tomorrow you are expected to wake early in the morning.
Thursday: Sossusvlei, Dune 45, Big Daddy, Dead Vlei & Sesriem
Early in the morning, at sunrise, we will visit the Sesriem Gate to the remarkable Sossusvlei. We start off with climbing picturesque Dune 45, experiencing beauty and vastness of the orange-colored landscape. Off-road drive to the Dead Vlei, a place of vast desert pan where dried-up, ancient acacias stand silent in the impressive, open-air gallery. If you have enough energy, you can climb one of the highest dunes on Earth, the ‚Big Daddy ‘or ‚Big Mama. After the morning excursion, we will return back to Sesriem for lunch. We will take a break for 1-2 hours. Once the heat subsides, we will take a short excursion to Sesriem Canyon. This will be our last activities for the day.
: Thursday-Sossusvlei-Windhoek
Soon after breakfast we will depart back to Windhoek we will stop-over at Solitaire for provisions. On our way through beautiful Spreetshoogte Pass. We will approximately arrive at our destination before lunch. We will drop you off at the hotel/lodge of your choice Farewell, goodbye.
