From plane to boat
In the necropolis of Thebes
Steps: Vallée Des Rois
After breakfast on board, visit the necropolis of Thebes on the west bank of the Nile, followed by the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, home to the tombs of many New Kingdom pharaohs, their families and nobles in favor. The tour continues with the Colossi of Memnon, the last remains of Amenhotep III's temple, and Deir el Bahari, the funerary temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Carved out of the rock of the Thebes mountain, Hatshepsut was one of the four pharaohs who ruled Egypt. In the evening, sound and light show at Luxor and Karnak temples.
Temple of Esna
Steps: Siwa
Early morning visit to the southern part of ancient Thebes, with the temples of Karnak and Luxor. The two temples are linked by a dromos, a long alley lined with sphinxes, and are dedicated to Amun. The three-enclosure temple at Karnak is itself part of the Karnak religious complex, which includes the ruins of other temples, buildings and pylons. Dinner and overnight on board.
Edfou, the temple of God Horus
Steps: Kôm-Ombo
Arrival in Edfou, horse-drawn carriage ride to the temple of Edfou, further inland. This temple of the falcon God Horus is both the largest temple of the Ptolemies dynasty and the second sanctuary of Egypt in size after Karnak. Inside, the intact paintings, inscriptions and reliefs make it the best preserved temple in Egypt. Return to the boat and go up the river to Kom Ombo.
Kom-Ombo - Aswan
Steps: Assouan
Head to the Kom-Ombo temple, dedicated to the gods Sobek and Haroeris. Built on a hill by three Ptolemies, the temple is surrounded by an enclosing wall covered with reliefs. Inside, the space is divided into two parts: that of the North devoted to Haroéris the hawk-headed god and that of the South to Sobek, the crocodile god. Return to the boat and sail to Aswan.
Aswan
Steps: Île Éléphantine
Arrive in Aswan in the early morning, then depart for a visit to the Temple of Isis on the island of Philae. Begun by Pharaoh Nectanebo I during Dynasty 30 and completed by the Romans, this is the main sanctuary dedicated to Isis. After Philae, the tour continues to the high dam and the unfinished obelisk. In the granite quarry, you'll find the tallestobelisk known to date (41.75 m), which was abandoned due to a crack in the rock. Afternoon felucca trip aroundElephantine Island, once a fortress.
Temple of Abu Simbel
Steps: Abou Simbel
Excursion by car or by plane to visit the Abu Simbel temples, built by Ramesses II. In the late afternoon, sailing to Luxor through Kom-Ombo, Edfou and Esna.
