Depart Arusha for the Marangu gate for the necessary formalities before starting the trek. The trek begins with an ascent through magnificent rainforest. Day 5

From Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak, from Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

Very early in the morning (around midnight), you begin your progress towards the summit. This is the most mentally and physically challenging part of the trek. The wind and cold at this altitude and time of day can be extreme. You climb in the dark for several hours, taking frequent but short breaks.

at Gilman's Point (18,600ft), you'll be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you've ever seen on Mawenzi Peak. Finally, you arrive at Uhuru Peak, the highest point of Kilimanjaro and the African continent.

Altitude: 15,430ft to 19,341ft

Distance: 6 km

Hiking time: 6-8 hours

Habitat: Arctic

After spending a few moments in the African plains and your accomplishment, you descend to Horombo Hut. Later in the evening, you enjoy your last dinner on the mountain and a well-deserved sleep
