Day 1: Transfer - Lake Mburo National Park
Steps: Lake Mburo National Park
Upon arrival at the airport, you will transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. Our guide will pick you up at the airport or hotel/residence in the morning 8:00 am or another agreed time. The drive will take about 5hrs to go through western Uganda’s major towns of Masaka and Lyantonde. After arriving at Lake Mburo, you will have an option to join an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo to sight wildlife.

Day 2: Sunrise safari and transfer - Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Steps: Lake Mburo National Park, Mgahinga National Park
After breakfast, we'll cross the savannah plains of Lake Mburo in search of wild animals. On a good day, you'll see giraffe, buffalo, zebra, topi and other animals. After the safaris, we continue our journey southwest to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The drive from Lake Mburo to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is estimated at 5-6 hours.

Day 3: Ultimate Gorilla Trekking - Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Steps: Mgahinga National Park
You'll head to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park immediately after breakfast for a briefing on gorilla trekking. The presentation will cover the basics of what to expect on the trek and how to approach the animals for their safety. The national park ranger will assign each visitor a gorilla family to follow, and your thrilling adventure will then begin. Depending on how far into the forest the gorillas are, the hike can last from 1 to 5 hours or more. Venture into the vegetation until you meet these incredible creatures; it's a truly unique experience. After the hike, you'll return to the lodge to relax, have dinner and enjoy a good night's sleep.

Day 4: Golden monkey hike and transfer - Kigali, Rwanda
Steps: Kigali, Mgahinga National Park
On this tour, you'll meet the golden monkeys, a species endemic to the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in southwestern Uganda. You'll enter the jungle and walk through bamboo vegetation and native plants such as giant lobelia. Your guide will tell you all about the history of the national park and the flora and fauna it shelters. The golden monkey hike lasts around 5 hours, and the transfer to Kigali, Rwanda, via the Cyanika border post, takes place immediately after the golden monkey hike. The journey from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park to Kigali is estimated at around 4-5 hours.
