Mount Elgon is an extinct volcano on the border between Uganda and Kenya. It is the fourth highest mountain in East Africa, with its highest peak, Wagagai, rising to 4,321 m above sea level. The mountain is also home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including elephants, buffalo and primates. You'll also explore the magnificent Sipi Falls, a series of three beautiful waterfalls located in the foothills of Mount Elgon in eastern Uganda. These falls are a popular tourist destination due to their picturesque beauty and the opportunities they offer for hiking and a wide range of adventurous activities.

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe international airport

Steps: Entebbe

On arrival at the airport, you'll be met by our dedicated guide/driver who will transfer you to the hotel you've booked to relax in. Depending on your arrival time, you can opt for a number of optional activities around Entebbe town.

Day 2: Transfer to Mount Elgon National Park

Steps: Mount Elgon National Park

Today you'll enjoy a relaxed breakfast before embarking on a scenic drive through local villages, plantations and beautiful scenery to Mount Elgon in Budadiri. On arrival, you'll check into your hotel for the night to acclimatize at 1,250 m altitude.

Day 3: Hike to the Mude cave camp, at 3,500 m altitude

Steps: Mount Elgon National Park

Today you'll have an early breakfast and embark on your morning adventure to Mount Elgon. You'll meet your experienced local guides and porters at park headquarters. You'll begin your adventure through lush montane forest and, as you ascend, you'll pause for lunch at Sasa River Camp, 2,900 m above sea level, while admiring the park's diverse flora and fauna, including unique plant species and a wide variety of birds. On arrival at camp, you set up camp with the help of the guides and spend the night at Mude Cave Camp, 3,500 m above sea level.

Day 4: Mude Cave Camp (3 500 m d'altitude) - Wagagai Peak (4 321 m d'altitude)

Steps: Mount Elgon National Park

Today you'll continue your hiking adventure on the slopes of Mount Elgon. This trek will take you through the heath and moorland area, characterized by giant lobelia and ragwort. You'll enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including valleys, peaks and the stunning caldera to the 4,321 m Wagagai summit, a distance of 18 km, and return to Mude Cave Camp for the second night in the wild.

Day 5: Descent to Sipi Falls

Steps: Mount Elgon National Park, Chutes De Sipi

After a last tasty breakfast in the mountains, we'll head back down from the park to the exit point via the village of Bumasola, to the park offices to obtain your summit access certificate. Our driver/guide will be ready to transfer you to Sipi Falls so you can recover from a hectic hike and freshen up.

Day 6: Explore Sipi Falls and visit the community

Steps: Chutes De Sipi

Today, you'll have an early breakfast and set off on a half-day exploration of the Sipi Falls. You'll take a guided hike to visit the three main waterfalls, while enjoying breathtaking views of the falls and surrounding landscape, and learning about local culture and traditions from the local guide. Later in the day, you'll visit local coffee plantations to learn about the coffee-making process before retiring to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Departure for Entebbe international airport

After a delicious breakfast, you'll make your way to Entebbe airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your 7-day adventure to Mount Elgon in Uganda. You'll take away lasting memories of the scenic beauty, rich culture and exciting hiking experience.
