The safari starts between 4:30 am from the city of Kigali and heads towards Musanze through the unrivalled hilly landscape that characterizes Rwanda. You'll be picked up early from your hotel/resort and driven to the park for a briefing from park rangers on how to behave when searching for gorillas. You'll enjoy misty views of the nearby mountains until you join your hosts, the gorillas. Return to Kigali to your hotel.

This one-day gorilla safari in Rwanda is perfectly executed when guests are already in Kigali. Regularly, this safari starts around 4.30 a.m. from Kigali. You'll start at 4.30 a.m., a 2.5-hour drive to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda's only mountain gorilla park. On your early morning arrival in Musanze, you'll head to the park headquarters for a briefing and will soon be guided by park rangers on how to walk in search of gorillas in the forest. At the briefing point, gorilla families or safari groups are allocated; however, some guests may be assigned gorilla families whose hikes are easy to reach. You'll enjoy misty views of the nearby mountains until you join your gorilla hosts. After the hike, you'll head to one of Musanze's hotels for lunch before returning to Kigali, where you'll arrive late afternoon or evening. This marks the end of the day's gorilla safari.
