Practical information : Move & Laze around Cape Verde
Budget & Tips
If you want to keep fit on vacation without having to lock yourself in a gym, do as the Cape Verdeans do! The beach is the ideal playground for exercising at any time of day, right up until sunset. What better environment to run, exercise, play soccer and make local friends.
There's no need to go deep into the ocean, as the translucent waters around the archipelago are ideal for snorkeling. So leave room in your suitcase for your own equipment, and you'll be able to enjoy this activity free of charge and in complete freedom. Put on your flippers and set off to discover a unique and multicolored fauna.
Your documents please
Diving in Cape Verde is a dream for some. And for good reason, it is a real paradise for divers of all levels, between well-preserved wrecks and colorful spots. So, in order not to miss any of this pleasure, and if you are already a seasoned diver, make sure you have certain documents, such as certifications, diploma, PADI card and logbook. Some centers also ask for a valid medical certificate issued by a general practitioner, or even a travel insurance certificate. Don't hesitate to ask the dive center before you travel, to be prepared for any eventuality.
Main events
The major event in Cape Verde is undoubtedly the Mindelo Carnival in February. If you've chosen to attend this great national celebration and have a front-row seat, book your tickets as soon as possible with your travel agent or local correspondent, or buy them as soon as you arrive. Please note that there is only one point of sale (for the time being), at Praça Amílcar Cabral (Praça Nova), which means long queues, and each person can only buy a maximum of two tickets per day. Good to know: tickets for the stands in Rua de Lisboa (1,500 CVE) and Rua Baltazar Lopes da Silva - ex-rua Machado - (1,000 CVE) are the most popular, as this is considered the best spot for the groups to start the parade.
