Ramses Station, also known as Cairo Central Station, is the city's main railway station. The current passenger building was built in 1892 and renovated in 1955. Ramses station has also housed the Cairo Railway Museum since its inauguration in 1933. Watania sleeping trains provide direct overnight services between Ramses station and the stations at Luxor and Aswan. The station was also used as a film location for Youssef Chahine's 1958 film "Central Station". Ramsès station is renowned for its busy schedule, with around 3.2 million passengers passing through every day.
