In Mozambique, we live by the rhythm of the sun and the tides for the visits of the islands. Museums may be closed on Sundays or Mondays, like everywhere else, and the hours are the same as those of offices and stores, generally from 8:30 am to 5 pm.

Most of the time you can book your activities the day before or the day after, but in high season, be sure to book in advance, for example your boat trips to the Bazaruto archipelago or your ocean safari in Tofo. Activities, dives, cruises, massages or guided tours, reservations are made on the spot. For the dives, make sure you have your Padi card with you if needed. It is preferable, if you opt for a specific outing, to discuss it beforehand with the center.

Tourist traps

All kinds of touts claiming to be guides will frequently accost you on the beaches of Tofo and Vilankulos. Each of them is looking for a commission to register you in boat excursions, cooking classes, everything is possible! It is better to go directly to the local agencies that offer these excursions and services to avoid extra costs and scams, but also to choose a serious agency, we do not joke with the safety conditions at sea.
