As a general rule, assume that the closing days are Sundays.
Some dance bars are only open from Thursday to Saturday. Bars and tea rooms usually close early, around 5:30 pm.

Age restrictions

As in France, alcohol consumption is tolerated from the age of 18.

Smokers

Caledonians are known to be heavy smokers (with more than half of the population considered regular tobacco users). Smoking is prohibited in some public places in the territory, including cafes, restaurants and children's playgrounds. Smoking areas are available.
