the Palio dell'Assunta on August 16.

For history

The "Palio" is a competition between all parts of a city. This race dates back to the Middle Ages and has remained very popular.

Identity card for the race

All jockeys and their horses represent one of the seventeen districts of Siena. Every year, only ten of them are represented. The riders go up and do three times the tower of the square. The race is particularly brutal: the winners are not bothered to ridicule their competitors.
