This date commemorates the famous speech of Buddha, the Makha Bucha. It is a public holiday in the whole Kingdom.
The day of Makha Bucha is set on the full moon of the3rd month of the Thai lunar calendar. This date commemorates a miraculous event, when 1 250 disciples of Buddha gathered to listen to the teachings of the Sage, who held a speech to them remained famous: Makha Bucha. The temples are then filled with devotees who bring food to the bonzes and who practice specific rituals on this occasion. In the evening, a great candlelight procession takes place. It is a public holiday in the whole country.
