This day commemorates the founding of the Chakri dynasty in 1782. In Bangkok, the royal family pays tribute to them at the Royal Pantheon.

This national holiday commemorates the founding of the Chakri dynasty in 1782 which established Bangkok as the capital of the kingdom. The king and the royal family, direct descendants of this lineage, supervise the religious ceremonies paying tribute to the contributions of this dynasty. They visit the Royal Pantheon, which houses life-size statues of the deceased kings. Bangkok residents go to the Grand Palace to pray, offer flowers, and burn incense at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Wat Phra Kaew.
