This day celebrates the birth, enlightenment and death of Buddha. Nightly torchlight procession.
Visakha Bucha, whose date is set each year according to the lunar calendar, celebrates Buddha's birth, enlightenment and death: the god chose simplicity and punctuality, choosing the same day for these three events in his life. The temples are once again invaded, and nocturnal processions take place. Devotees perform rituals to earn merit, make donations and listen to Buddha's teachings. Some "liberate" fish or birds to erase negative karma.
