The Czech mountains, located along the border with Germany and Poland, offer great opportunities for winter sports enthusiasts. Comparable in altitude to the French Vosges mountains, they are easily reached by car from the capital Prague in around two hours. The Krkonoše, Krušné Hory and Šumava mountain ranges offer over 190 km of pistes, 175 lifts, snow parks and hundreds of kilometers of Nordic trails. The most popular ski resort in the Czech Republic is Špindlerův mlýn, which offers 24 km of downhill ski trails, 3 snow parks and 95 km of cross-country ski trails. Other popular ski resorts include Rokytnice nad Jizerou, Harrachov, Klínovec and Lipno.
