The Emancipation Season takes place over several months to commemorate the history of slavery and emancipation.
More than just a commemorative day or week, the Emancipation Season takes place over several months, punctuated by a variety of events designed to commemorate, better understand and reflect on the history of slavery and the process of emancipation. The season kicks off on April 14, with the commemoration of the Slave Rebellion led by Bussa, and continues until the end of August, with Africa Day, the month of June dedicated to heritage, Emancipation Day on August 1 and many other events.
