Practical information : Going out Armenia
Timetable
After 70 years of Soviet rule, Armenia, where going to the theatre or the opera has always been an institution, has discovered the charms of nightlife, until then reserved for apparatchiks in the state discos run by Intourist. However, a few jazz clubs had appeared as early as the 1980s, and since then many bars and other discos, at least in Yerevan, have been getting Armenians to dance to international hits or local "rabiz" productions until dawn, especially at weekends. In winter, the night is a little less festive.
To be booked
No need to make a reservation in general, unless you are in a group.
Night transport
The Yerevan subway closes at 11 p.m. and midnight on weekends. Not late enough for night owls who will fall back on the cheap taxis, or the GG app, or walk around.
Age restrictions
Boxes such as alcohol are forbidden to people under 18. It is preferable to have your papers with you, which you may be asked for at the entrance to certain establishments.
Smokers
From 2020, smoking is prohibited in all clubs, bars and discos.
Tourist traps
No scams at the ticket offices for shows, but in nightclubs, some night owls have the oldest profession in the world ..
