During the first fortnight of May, Jerez de la Frontera dedicates its feria to its famous purebred Andalusian horses.
The name that Jerez de la Frontera has given to its feria reflects the importance of the horse to the town. It features competitions inacoso y derribo, jumping, driving, eventing and a whole range of equestrian events for over a week. For several years now, there have been six bullfights, but only one is devoted to rejoneo. The town also offers a wide range of rides, parades and equestrian exhibitions. Much more open than Seville, it is becoming increasingly popular with many Andalusians.
