LE CROQUET DE CHAROST
Founded in 1848, Le Croquet de Charost is the oldest biscuit factory in Berry. What made its reputation is its croquet, a dry biscuit with whole almonds. Its recipe remains unchanged and is only passed on orally. From now on, it is Marie Chartin who holds the secret. The biscuit is made in the respect of the artisanal tradition. The recipes give pride of place to local products: flour from the Moulin de la Chappe in Bourges, cheese from the Fromagerie Jacquin in La Vernelle and butter from a dairy in Verneuil-sur-Indre. To crunch without moderation!
