SAINT-SATURNIN CHURCH
This church was the site of an important pilgrimage to Notre-Dame des Aydes.
In this church, one of the oldest in Blois, Loire river bargemen would come to venerate Notre-Dame des Aydes, the town's patron saint, and thank her for the protection she afforded them. The original building was erected in the 10th century and destroyed several times before being rebuilt under the impetus of Anne de Bretagne in the 16th century, and again in the 17th century following the fire caused by Protestants during the Wars of Religion. Across the street, the Aître is one of France's last gallery cemeteries. It houses the town's lapidary museum.
