This magnificent castle overlooking the Loire was built around 1646 at the request of Guillaume Charron, then adviser to the king. In 1760, it was Madame de Pompadour who acquired it. New buildings are then constructed and interior fittings are being undertaken. But King Louis XV's favorite benefits very little from his home since she died in 1764. His residence then returned to his brother, the Marquis de Marigny.
