FONSARD'S BIRTH HOUSE - THE POSSONNIÈRE
House with a barn that can accommodate cocktails, family meals, weddings ...
It is here that on September 11, 1524, Pierre de Ronsard was born, the "Prince of Poets", leader of the Pleiades, author of the famous "Mignonne allons voir si la rose...". He spent part of his childhood there; as the youngest member of the family, he was not the heir to the estate. However, the surrounding nature was his first source of inspiration and many of his poems will sing the Vendôme region: the forest of Gastine overhanging the south courtyard, the river Loir, the green island in Couture, the surrounding fountains, the troglodytic rooms. La Possonnière was built as the social ascension of Ronsard's ancestors progressed. Far from the crowd of the big castles, you will appreciate the charm and the quietness of the place: a gothic manor and troglodytic outbuildings decorated at the very beginning of the 16th century with fine Renaissance sculptures and inscriptions relating the philosophical thought of the father of the poet. Loys de Ronsard, who took part in the Italian wars, knew how to make a place for himself with King François I. The gardens, created on the site of the former farmyard, harmonize with the spirit of the manor. Rose garden, labyrinth, green room, pergola, vegetable garden...: their conception was largely based on the plants present in the poetry of Ronsard. During the season, animations are organized You are looking for a place for a cocktail, a family meal, a wedding : the barn of La Possonnière can welcome you ! Guide sympathique, peut être un peu cher pour la petitesse des lieux . Nous avons toutefois apprécié.
