CHAPEL OF ST. GILLES
This harmonious 11th century chapel is located in a bucolic environment.
Although amputated of its nave, this harmonious 11th century chapel located in a bucolic environment is famous for its frescoes. Three representations of Christ cover the apse and the two transepts. In order not to disturb religious practice, these 12th century frescoes had been covered for years by a plaster, they were cleaned in the 19th century. Literary note: Pierre de Ronsard was prior of the chapel of Saint Gilles from 1566 to 1585. The mystery remains as to whether he was actually present or not.
