CHURCH OF ST. BARTHOLOMEW
The church of Saint-Barthélemy has a beautiful Romanesque half-timbered bell tower, with a curious modillion, and a monumental fresco.
Rebuilt in 1898, this church boasts a handsome Romanesque half-timbered bell tower, a curious sculpted modillon (or cul-de-lampe) showing a human head, and a monumental fresco, superbly enhanced by a play of lights, by Denys de Solère, dating from 1993: Le Retour glorieux du Christ entraîné, entre autres, par saint Barthélémy (patron saint of the Orchaise church). It evokes the glorious return of Christ on the 80 m² of the church's choir. Two audiovisuals are available free of charge: a 14-minute film for adults and a 9-minute treasure hunt for children. Not far from the church is the priory's botanical park, which covers some 3 hectares and features almost 2,000 plant species from all over the world.
