Museum featuring a fine collection of the famous manufacturer's legendary racing cars.
The name Matra still rings in the ears of all motor sport enthusiasts. It's hard to forget the 124 victories won by the blue cars on all the world's circuits, both in Formula 1 and endurance racing, with the greatest drivers of the day at the wheel, such as Jean-Pierre Beltoise and Jackie Stewart, world champion in 1969. Not forgetting the fabulous music of the legendary V12 engine. Housed in the former premises of another famous Romorantin company, Beaulieu cameras, the 3,000 m² Espace automobiles Matra museum presents the 3 facets of the adventure: the sporting epic, the industrial part and the prototypes. It's the only place to find all the cars that forged the Matra legend during the 7 years the factory was involved in racing. Matra also produced sports cars such as the 530, astonishing 3-seaters like the Bagheera and Murena, and the Rancho, forerunner of today's SUVs. And of course the model that revolutionized the car market, the Espace, which forced the company to build a new factory to keep up with demand, right up to the Avantime, the brand's swan song. The prototypes, jealously guarded secrets of all manufacturers, are revealed here, and form a much-appreciated part of the exhibition.
Exhibition 2024 "Viaggio in Italia" from April 06 to October 13 - 20 Italian vehicles retracing the history of this industry will be presented in a setting designed for the event
