CASTLE OF SAINT AIGNAN
Imposing castle preserving a keep and a part of the walls, the exteriors and the terraces are available to the visit.
Around the year 1000, the Counts of Blois were constantly at war with their hotheaded and invading neighbor, the Count of Anjou Foulques Nerra. Opposite the Château de Montrichard, on the other bank of the Cher, they built a fortress whose keep and walls can still be seen today. Today's elegant château was built on these imposing ruins, and its exteriors and terraces are open to visitors free of charge. From its promontory, you can enjoy a magnificent view over the town of Saint-Aignan and the entire Cher valley.
