LE GRAND PÉRIGUEUX
The Greater Périgueux urban community, chaired by Jacques Auzou - mayor of Boulazac-Isle-Manoire and departmental councillor - brings together 43 municipalities from Sorges to Paunat. It is administered by a council of 95 elected officials, including an office of 71 members (including all mayors) assisted on a daily basis by 500 public officials. This structure covers services for residents (crèches, swimming pools, waste management, broadband, sanitation, reception of travellers), spatial planning and urban planning (housing, urban and health policy, transport and urban planning), travel (Péribus, car-sharing sites, inhabitants' SMS alert), the environment (water and air quality), tourism and leisure (tourism development, Neufont site, greenways, rivers, hiking trails, swimming pools). The community is preparing to move: in 2020 it will join the multimodal hub in the station district and make way for the police station.
