MÉDIATHÈQUE PIERRE-FANLAC
The municipal media library known as Pierre Fanlac has undergone a total refurbishment. The collections (160,000 books, 120,000 of which are on the Périgord) have been redeployed and the range of services expanded. An extension of 150 m² on the Gamenson park with a reading room has been created. The more energy-efficient building allows for perfect archiving and conservation of documents. To make the lovers of beautiful works dream, know that the media library shelters 62 incunabula (printed before 1501), 60 000 printed books from the XVIth century to 1914, local magazines from the XVIIIth century to our days, nearly 2 300 manuscripts (the oldest from the XIIth century), 4 000 graphic documents (maps and plans, engravings, photographs), scores and phonograms. These rare documents can be consulted by appointment and cannot be borrowed.
From now on, digital technology is more present to satisfy a younger public. This is a great leap forward which improves the life of everyone, from the staff who work there to the public who visit the institution, from the schoolchildren next door to the visitors to the exhibitions and conferences in the auditorium. The website also allows you to search the catalogue and make online reservations, to access free and legal content in the music, cinema, knowledge, book and press areas. Once you have registered, you can borrow 40 documents - including a maximum of 10 DVDs, 1 e-reader and 1 game - for one month. This period is doubled from mid-June to the end of July.
