Museum of inland navigation in Port-Sainte-Foy-et-Ponchapt, evoking the environment and the life of the river people and their traditions
The project of the Musée de la Batellerie de Port-Sainte-Foy was born in 1986 from the will of a native of the region, Jacques Reix; author of a book on the history of the Dordogne boatmen published by Fanlac in 1979. In the heart of an old 18th-century cellar, this place of memory evokes the environment and the life of the people of the river and their traditions. Every year, the present temporary exhibitions on shipbuilding, Newfoundland fishermen and the history of the Port of Bordeaux. At the end of your visit, you will also be able to taste the best wines from this exceptional terroir at the Maison du Fleuve et du Vin.
