THE THOT, ANIMAL PARK
An important complement to Lascaux with the free visit of the Parc du Thot. The relationship between Man and Animal in Prehistory
This year is marked by the birth of Lupa the cub of the year. This center of research and prehistoric art is an essential complement to the visit of Lascaux II or IV. You will discover in the same place a museographic space with five major facsimiles of the paintings of the gallery of the nave of Lascaux (the Black Cow, the frieze of the stags, the Bisons leaning, the panel of the print, the panel of the Ibexes), an animal park as well as a workshop of parietal art. After having crossed the diorama of the painters' workshop, three video-projections of details of the paintings of Lascaux are proposed. The center also has exhibition rooms with models, photos and films describing prehistoric art in the Périgord. A 12-minute 3D film presents the great climatic evolutions and their consequences on the environment of the first men. The young public can learn about cave art, archaeological excavations, flint knapping, propeller shooting, prehistoric jewelry, the making of grease lamps and leather work. The animal park gives an overview of the fauna of the Cro-Magnon era: aurochs, deer, ibex, American bison, Przewalski's horses, spotted hyena, saiga antelope and four European grey wolves Django with Taiga and their daughter Lupa (born in April) as well as Cheyenne the other wolf. You can also transform yourself into a caretaker. Mammoth and Co, an augmented reality application, allows you to meet the animals of prehistory.
