FOIRE AUX DINDONS
The Foire aux Dindons de Varaignes (turkey fair of Varaignes) is a traditional and atypical festival. Finding its origins under Henri IV, it has been perpetuated for 55 years thanks to the work of the commune. Every November 11th, from 9am, the most beautiful turkeys parade through the village to the castle square accompanied by their guardians in traditional outfits of the Brotherhood of Varaignes turkey. During the day, there is a "gobble" contest (the sound a male turkey makes), then some unfortunate animals will be cooked, especially in the courtyard of the castle, for the final grand banquet where they also sell gruff (new wine), cider and chestnuts.
