THE OCEAN WOMAN
Sculpture in exotic wood from Cameroon, 4.30 metres high, installed in 1997 in Arès
Dominique Piot's sculpture, known as "La Femme Océane", stands opposite the basin, at the end of the dike at the entrance to the oyster port. Created in 1997 from exotic wood from Cameroon, this 4.30-metre-high work represents the undulation of the swell, and more broadly evokes the theme of water. Nicknamed Célia, it took no less than 600 hours to create, to watch over the sailors. The sculptor, whose studio is located on the shores of the Arcachon basin, has also created other monumental works.
