CHÂTEAU GRILLON
The Château Grillon is located in Barsac and benefits from the Sauternes appellation. This small family property of 8 hectares held by Odile Roumazeilles and her son Julien, consistently keeps the promises that are expected from a very good sweet white wine. The proximity of the Ciron offers the farm a clayey-limestone soil. The vines are divided into 85% Semillon, 10% and 5% Muscadelle. The old winemaking methods are preserved (maturing in barrels among others) to produce a pure apricot and honeyed nectar; a delight as an aperitif, which goes well with local products such as foie gras, but also with lobster or white meat. The tasting-price ratio is excellent, amateurs and professionals confirm this. Among the distinctions obtained are the Haut-Grillon 2003 vintage (2 stars in the Hachette 2009 guide) and the 1997 vintage (best sauternes for the Decanter magazine in 2002). The estate offers a panoramic view over the Haut-Barsac plateau, one of the highest points in the commune. The visit is pleasant. Feel free to come and visit the Portes Ouvertes in November.
