REMAINS OF THE FORMER CARMELITE CONVENT
Building with a facade preserved during the battles and attacks of Louis XIII, serving as a prison during the Revolution.
In 1643, the Carmelite nuns settled in Arbois. The battles and attacks of Louis XIII had wreaked havoc. They therefore decided to build a church for Notre-Dame Libératrice, which served as a prison during the French Revolution. Unfortunately, work carried out during the urbanization of Arbois left only a few vestiges of this church: the façade has nevertheless been preserved. The site of the former convent is now occupied by Carmel 1643, formerly Maison Jeunet.
