MONTDIDIER CASTLE
This fortress erected in the 10th century dominated the valley of the Valouse.
Probably built in the 10th century, this fortress, located on the border between France and the Holy Roman Empire, Burgundy, Dauphiné and Savoy, dominated the Valouse valley. But, like many, it was caught in the middle of territorial issues and besieged between the 14th and 16th centuries. Destroyed in 1595, during Henry IV's war against the Spaniards, many ruins remain today. Follow a marked path from Marsonnas where there is a 14th century chapel, restored after its destruction in the 17th century. A nice walk!
