LA TAILLERIE
La Taillerie began in 1988 with Gilbert Duraffourg, the last active diamond cutter in these mountains, where there were as many as 8,000 lapidaries in the 19th century. Initiated by her father, Valérie took over the reins of the workshop. The youngest daughter, Marlène, is training in both business and cutting techniques. Valérie is a gemmologist, i.e. a specialist in the precious stones she has studied on her travels abroad, ultimately earning her international GEM-A diploma. She sources her own carefully selected rough stones from all continents. In the boutique, a short film shows the different stages of cutting and the professions of lapidary and diamond cutter. The Duraffourg family organizes popular temporary presentations on the history and tools of lapidary, sapphires, garnets, emeralds, aquamarines... Passionate and fascinating, the family members impress with their expertise and knowledge. A visit to their boutique is therefore a must. All the more so in 2018, when the company celebrates its thirtieth anniversary with a brilliant exhibition.
