MONT RIVEL
Visit Mount Rivel, rich in history and vineyards, offering exceptional panoramic views.
This mountain was occupied in Gallo-Roman times by a sanctuary consisting of two temples and a town of 7 hectares. It was also the site of a limestone quarry for a cement factory which contributed to the construction of the Vouglans dam. A terrible disaster occurred on 27 July 1964, killing 14 quarrymen. Covered with vines in the 18th century on its southern flank, the "champagnolaise mountain" has been taken over by vines since 2008. 800 Chardonnay and Savagnin vines have been reintroduced thanks to the volunteers of the mountain association.
