ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST CHURCH
A contemporary monument that can surprise in an ancient city like Dole but which has a certain architectural interest and deserves a little distance from the historic city centre to discover it. This vessel of concrete, copper and steel, built from 1961 to 1964, thanks to the involvement of a large number of inhabitants, was designed by architect Anton Korady. The grids are the work of Maurice Calka: they illustrate the struggle of light and darkness, a theme inspired by the text of the Revelation of Saint John. Architecture, furniture and décor reflect a desire for openness to the world and to the present time.
